Integrated modelling of age and sex patterns of European migration

Using the time frame of 2002 to 2008, the authors utilize a Bayesian model to capture age and sex demographics of the migration flows throughout the European Union and the European Economic Area at a time when the EU was expanding from 19 to 31 countries. The writers take care to outline how their methodology takes into account gaps in available data, and the article includes many visuals that help demonstrate the calculations used. This can also serve as an example of how to work with existing data portals, as the information used here was taken from Eurostat databases.
