In 2023, there were an estimated 46.9 MILLION NEW INTERNAL DISPLACEMENTS — 26.4 million as a result of disasters and 20.5 million due to conflict and violence. New internal displacements due to conflict and violence in 2023 was 28 per cent lower than in 2022. However, the global figure in 2023 was 70 per cent higher than the past decade's annual average.
