Marzia Rango

Data Innovation and Capacity-Building Coordinator

Marzia Rango is an expert on migration and displacement data, working to bridge the gap between data, analysis and policy. She is currently at the UN Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) at the UN Secretariat in New York. Prior to this, she led the work on data innovation and capacity-building at IOM's Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC) in Berlin. She was the co-convenor of the Big Data for Migration Alliance, a joint initiative of IOM’s GMDAC, the European Commission Joint Research Centre, and the GovLab at New York University seeking to accelerate the responsible use of new data sources and methods for migration analysis and policy.

Marzia has published extensively on migration and data topics. She is co-author of the book Measuring Global Migration – Towards Better Data for All (Routledge, 2023), co-editor of Harnessing Data Innovation for Migration Policy (IOM, 2022), and co-editor of Migration in West and North Africa and across the Mediterranean (IOM, 2020).
