Assessing the Quality of Mobile Phone Data as a Source of Statistics

This Belgian case study serves as an example of how mobile phone data might be utilized to track migration flows in real time, as opposed to the infrequency of the census. To test its accuracy, the authors compare mobile phone data with the results of a recent census. The authors take care to point out weaknesses in the data, and also briefly write how they avoided major issues such as privacy concerns. What might be especially intriguing for other researchers is how the authors present at the end of the articles options and suggestions for further research.
