Emma Borgnäs

Desk Officer

Emma Borgnäs is a Desk Officer at the Global Agenda Department at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs where she works with Sweden’s cooperation with the World Bank, with a focus on the International Development Fund (IDA), and thematic lead on Climate and energy, Fragility, conflict and vulnerability (FCV), Migration and remittances and Health.

Before joining the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Emma had been a Data and Policy Analyst at IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre in Berlin working mainly on projects related to data and trends analysis on the Central Mediterranean route and Innovative Data. Prior to joining IOM, Emma was the project coordinator for international migration at the Columbia Global Policy Initiative, where she researched and wrote publications on international migration governance issues and coordinated multi-stakeholder gatherings at the national and global policy level on the sidelines of the UN-led process to negotiate a Global Compact for Migration. She has also been involved in efforts to advocate and shape cities' and the private sector's role in responding to the migration and refugee challenge. Emma holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and a Bachelor in International Studies from University of Oslo.
