Making Migrants Visible: A review of information of migrants in censuses and household surveys in Latin America and the Caribbean

Cover_image_MakingMigrantsVisible

Structural changes in migration flows in recent years have influenced demographics in Latin America and the Caribbean. These changes have created further pressure on Census Bureaus at national level to collect and report on socioeconomic indicators to monitor the wellbeing of the population, especially migrants.

This report explores the question on what level of coverage on migrants is available at regional censuses and household surveys. To answer this question, it revises all records collected by the IDB and published by each Census Bureau whenever possible to identify migrants, and their representation per year. (Starting from 2010).

It includes a summary per country on available data, showcasing those that present disparities on migrant population across multiple sources within the country.
