Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC) 2024
While food insecurity has increased worldwide in 2023, displaced populations are often among the most vulnerable to food insecurity and malnutrition related to limited access to employment, livelihoods, food and shelter. In 2023, the number of forcibly displaced people living countries/territories with food crises reached over 90 million. By the end of 2023, nearly 64.3 million people were internally displaced in 38 countries and territories identified as having food crises, and about 26 million refugees and asylum seekers were hosted in 56 out of the 59 countries and territories identified as having food crises.
The GRFC 2024, published by the Food Security Information Network (FSIN) in support of the Global Network against Food Crises (GNAFC), serves as the reference document on acute food insecurity at the global, regional, and country levels in 2023. The report is the outcome of 16 partners working together to create a consensus-based evaluation of acute food insecurity and malnutrition in countries experiencing food crises, with the goal of informing humanitarian and development action.
